What’s in my backpack? College Student Edition.

As all my friends are about to start their freshman year in college, they have been asking tons of questions. I surprisingly got asked a lot about what supplies I use for keeping organized. I decided to go ahead and give a complete overview of what I typically carry to campus with me everyday as I am a commuter student and go to my office job right after my classes.

I use THIS North Face back pack. OR I use THIS tote. I like to switch up!

1- MacBook Pro w/ THIS CASE. A computer is a must! & so is this case. MacBooks aren’t cheap and the last thing you want to of is dent it or scratch it up. With this case I’m comfortable with just throwing it in my bag and going. I don’t have to worry about carrying a laptop bag around.

2. Ipad Mini. I don’t carry this everyday but it is great to have for when in lectures and you don’t want to pull out your laptop to view power points!

3. Spine Guard note books. MUST HAVE. I HATE binders for one they are two bulky and I hate having to hole punch EVERYTHING. These are super cool. They are a note book and folder in one and are super durable. You can get 1,3, or 5 subjects. I usually just get a one subject for each class! the best part the one subject are ONLY $3!!!!!  I have linked them HERE, HERE & HERE.

4. Pencil Pouch! I have soooo many pens and pencils and its so easy to loose them so I try to keep them all in here. THIS pencil pouch is soooo adorable. I got mine from nordstrom.

5. My Erin Condren Agenda. It goes with me everywhere. Use THIS LINK to get $10 off your agenda or any Erin Condren products.

8. Mini Emergency bag. Mine is a Trina cosmetic bag. I got it off Hautelook but have linked some similar ones HERE, HERE & HERE. Inside this bag I keep a contact case, tylenol , chap stick, eye drops, cough drops, deodorant, hair ties, bobby pins & gum! (you name it, I’ve probably got it! LOL)

8. My wallet. Carrying a purse on top of all this is just not an option so I just put my wallet in which ever bag I’m using for the day! I am totally craving these two!!! 1 2  hint…hint… BRYAN ;))

9. LUNCH BOX. I don’t carry this with me to every class but I do take my lunch for work after! I LOVE this lunch box!

I hope this was helpful! Enjoy!!

what post would you like to see next? Im currently working on a giveaway for you guys! what kinds a stuff would you like to win? let me know in the comments. XOXO

Saying Yess to the Dress

So as I promised I am back with another wedding post! Today’s post is all about picking the perfect dress! The weekend before last I decided to go look at dresses! I had been doing my research online, I had an idea of what I thought I wanted and the had intention of JUST looking BUT I ended up walking out of the bridal shop buying the most stunning gown that was the EXACT opposite of what I had envisioned! It was such a fun day and I feel SO relieved now that I have found my dress. Picking the perfect dress can be extremely overwhelming, so here are a few of my tips.

1. PICK YOUR THEME. Before you even look at dresses, make sure you have the theme of your wedding set in stone! You want your dress to compliment the theme of the wedding. If you’re having a beach wedding don’t go for a ball gown, if you’re having a black tie wedding don’t pick a laid back dress, you want to compliment your theme! Our theme is Simple Elegant. Very neutral colors with lots of gold and silver accents to make it more sophisticated and glamourous. My dress perfectly compliments that, and I am obsessed with it.

2. BE OPEN TO TRYING DIFFERENT STYLES. For me this was hard. I was so set on one style. Funny how I picked the COMPLETE opposite.

3. YOU PICK THE DRESS. This can be extremely difficult. When you have a big group of people looking at dresses, it can be a bit overwhelming with so many opinions. I am a very outspoken person so this wasn’t hard for me, BUT don’t let anyone make the decision for you! YOU pick what you like because it is YOUR decision.

4. FIND SALES AND PRICE MATCH. They don’t tell you this but different bridal shops have different prices. If you find a dress you like and its from a popular designer, compare prices of surrounding bridal shops, even consider getting sized in a shop and ordering from a reliable warehouse online. Unfortunately, my gown was exclusively sold at the bridal shop chain that I chose so the price would have been the same regardless. I did get a discount on my dress though because of a special they were promoting so be look out for those opportunities!

5. DON’T RUSH!!! This is probably THE most important tip! Take your time!!! Allow yourself plenty of time to look at dresses. Not everyone finds the one at the first shop and that’s OK!!! I promise just got lucky (I am the worlds most indecisive person so EVERYONE was shocked I found one so quick!!).

6. HAVE FUN! I get annoyed with things and stressed very easy, especially if somethings not going my way. ( I know it’s bad but I’m working on it) If my family and friends weren’t there I could assure you it wouldn’t have been enjoyable. Take your bridesmaids and family! It makes you feel more comfortable and less stressed!

7.INVEST IN SPANX! You’ll probably be changing in front of a complete stranger so these cover up a bit more AND make your dress fit seamlessly!

Any guesses on the type of dress I picked!?! I’m itching to show Bryan but he is just going to have to wait until the big day! The current count down is 345 days & I STILL have so much to do. I’m currently waiting on my Erin Condren wedding planner. I’m thinking of doing a review on both the life & wedding planner so be on the lookout for that.

Have a great hump day! XOXO

Southern Prep – Look for Less

We all love to keep up with the trends, but sometimes its just impossible. I’m just going to keep it real, clothes are pricey and I much rather spend money on (makeup) LOL, traveling, a new car, a new house, etc. Its super hard for me to spend hundreds of dollars on clothes when I can use my money to do other things! I am the QUEEN of finding deals and dupes! Below I have complied some of the top “Southern Prep” trends and found alternatives! I really enjoy doing these kinds of post so there will definitely be more! I hope you enjoy and find helpful XOXO. Feel free to share!

I found these a few days after I bought a pair of Jack Rogers and returned my Jack Rogers immediately!

Dupe 2

A monogram necklace is a must have! The go with everything and are the perfect touch to any outfit. I got mine from Marley Lilly and adore it. They are the best place to get affordable monogram jewelry!!

dupe 3 dupee 3

Michael Kors/ Style & Co

These are another great steal! They are literally the exact same as the Michael Kors watches and a fraction of the price! I use these as my everyday watches for the class and the office and wear my Micheal Kors when I want to be a bit more fancy. Amazing quality!!! Tons of people mistake them for MK when I wear them. (I took these to a department store accessories counter  and we put these side by side with the MK watches and they look identical!)

dupe 4

Lilly Pullitzer/ Saks

So I LOVE me a good shift dress! They are comfy and super classy! I love lilly dresses but they are just so expensive! I found a dupe to my fav lilly dress EVER! This would be perfect for Rush Week!

P.S. I am thinking about doing a giveaway! What are some things you’d like to win?

Wedding Belles Wednesday

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2015

As some may know I got engaged about two months ago! May 28th,2015 to be exact, while we were on vacation at Disney World :) We had literally the BEST week ever and just when I thought it couldn’t get any better Bryan proposed!!!! I was so surprised but honestly should have suspected something I mean my mom only called me like 20 times that day LOL!! It was such special moment and I can’t wait to spend forever with my best friend. (I know I will get asked about my ring and it is rose gold band with a champagne diamond in the center and white diamonds around it and the band.) Bryan did VERY good 😉  We are tying the knot July 16th 2016! WE ARE NOW A LITTLE UNDER THE YEAR MARK! O.M.G. We still have TONS to do. I have checked off a few major to-do’s such as the Venue, Bridal Party selection, Caterer, Decorator and have decided on a theme and colors, BUT the list still runs a mile long. I thought it would be a great idea to blog our journey to the big day to not only keep for us to look back on but to help all the Bride to Be’s out there! Now that I have had the chance to be engaged its time to get to business and PLAN! I am OCD so a wedding planning book for me is a MUST! I tried this one from Barnes & Noble but tbh I’m not a fan! It has great information but is just not for ME. So I ordered this one! I adore ERIN CONDREN!!! (just received my new life planner today) I should have just stuck to getting this in the first place! As soon as it gets here I will do a overview/review! I also have this book & its so helpful! So I don’t overload with wedding post, I’m thinking about doing these just once or twice a month. If you have any wedding related questions or topic for the next Wedding Belles Wednesday please feel free to email me or comment below.

Here are a few of our Disney World pictures!

Beauty Essentials for Back to School.

Tuesday, July 21st, 2015

To follow along with the theme of back to school I have decided to go ahead and do my Top Beauty must haves for back to school! As many of y’all know makeup and all things beauty related is my thing so sorry if this post is a little lengthy. To view more information or purchase each product click on the picture :)   Some of these products I’ve mentioned before & they are just THAT good so I had to post about them again.

No lie this will be your BEST FRIEND, especially for those mornings when you wake up late and have literally 10 min to get out the door or for those like me who pull frequent all nighters!

Batiste is the BEST & they have a Dry shampoo to fit each hair type! Ive tried tons of higher end brands and NOTHING has compared to these!

I don’t know how many crappy hair tools I’ve gone through in my lifetime, but it has been enough to tell you that investing in good hair tools makes a HUGE difference! I switch up between these and they make styling hair a breeze! I strongly suggest investing in high quality hair tools they will last you forever and save you TONS of hassle.

As college or life in general can become very stressful at times the first thing that usually suffers for our stress is our SKIN! For me taking care of my skin is one of my top priorities when it comes to beauty. My essential skin care products include a cleanser toner and moisturizer!

My current favorite is the Philosophy one step cleanser! If you can get you hands on it I highly recommend it!

Tinted Moisturizer/BB Cream/CC Cream ( to me they all do the same thing)

Garnier-BB-Cream-Skin-Renew-Miracle-Skin-Perfector-Deep cc_cream_32ml_cap_fair

OK. Lets get real! NO ONE has time to put a full face of makeup on EVERYDAY. Tinted moisturizer is a  life savers though. They add coverage and make you look like you tried when you really didn’t! Most tinted moisturizer’s even have sunscreen so that’s def a PLUS!

This is a necessity! point.blank.period.

 Powder Foundation

*This is an exact dupe for MAC studio fix powder foundation & only $6!!*

If you are like me and have oily, sometimes tinted moisturizer just isn’t enough. I have been loving powder foundation lately and its 10x easier to apply and deal with than liquid foundation. I use it alone or if I want a full coverage look I apply it with the tinted moisturizer and concealer.

Other products great to have handy but not necessarily essentials.

Face brush! Great for deep cleaning your skin! I’ve linked some below all at different price points.

A few makeup palette must haves for those who like to sometimes do a little extra!

Hope you enjoyed! What are your beauty must haves? What post would you like to see next? XOXO

6 Tech and Accessory Essentials for Back to School

Monday, July 13th, 2015

Blog Collage 1

blog Collage 2

As we approach back to school time, I wanted to kick off back to school post starting with tech and accessories for all the incoming freshman starting college or those just starting back their classes. As most classes start in august I assumed many would be gathering supplies and such starting now. College is a huge transition from high school & with me being home schooled and it was an even more drastic transition. I wanted to highlight some main things I couldn’t live without!

1.A COMPUTER. Save yourself a lot of time and trouble and invest in a GOOD LAPTOP. There are many good ones out there but I swear by MacBooks. I personally prefer the pro because of video editing for YouTube and its fast processor but I DO love the air! I had and air for 2 years before switching to the Pro and I loved it!! It is ideal for college with its light weight. Trust me the little extra weight in your bag makes all the difference! What is great is BEST BUY usually offers discounts for students on apple products.

macbook/similar alternative

2. iPad or Tablet. Now this is completely optional and not necessary at all. I just sometimes prefer taking my iPad opposed to my MacBook for notes. I will say that many teachers have now converted to using online text and this is the main reason I would suggest getting an iPad or Tablet. It makes is so much easier for reading on the go or in bed at night.

Ipad/similar alternative

3. AN AGENDA. This one should probably have been number one. If you don’t use an agenda already you should start and start NOW! College professors very seldom remind you about assignments, quizzes, etc. This is critical to college success! Keep your agenda and NEVER let it leave your side. I promise besides a computer this will be the best investment you will make for college.

Lilly Pulitzer Agenda/ Erin Condren Agenda

4. Cross Body Bag. A good sturdy cross body is an essential. Perfect for on campus and great for when going out! I very seldom carry a big bag unless outside of classes. I would suggest a black or brown bag as they match almost everything.

Michael Kors Cross Body Bag

5. Rain Boots. The worst feeling in the world is walking to class in the pouring rain without rain boots. Get a good pair and you will be set!

Hunter Rain Boots/ Similar Alternative

6. Backpack or Tote Bag. I’ve always been a tote bag girl. Backpacks have always hurt my back and I actually hated how bulky they were. Recently I discovered north face backpacks and I’m in love! I love how they have a place for computers and extra padding to prevent strain on your back and shoulders but I also love my totes so I switch up often. As a commuter when I come to campus I basically pack my whole life with you each day so these two bags linked are must haves.

Hope you find this helpful! leave me your must haves in the comments XOXO

Lilly For Target

Okay so as many of you already know Lilly for Target hit stores today! I was lucky enough to be able to snatch up a few item but not much. It was like black friday all over again. People were going crazy, anyway… I wanted to share with you the items I picked up. I got this adorable one piece and this super cute scarf which will look amazing as a little cover up with it. I surprised Bryan (my adorable bf) with a trip to disney for the end of May and figured this would be PERFECT for our trip.

The swim suit looks dark in the pic but I promise the blues match! LOL.

I wanted this dress sooooo bad but it was the first to fly off the shelf. I am trying to refrain from buying it off ebay overpriced -_-.

Did any of you get a chance to grab anything? I want to see!!  Tweet me pics @alexuslaneia.

I have some awesome post coming your way so stay tuned, my next few weekends are super packed with makeup appointments but I’m going to try my best to get some post up. Until then XOXO.

SO I kinda fail at this blogging thing but I PROMISE to do better. Since its already a week in to April and I have def missed my march favorites, I have decided to instead do a current favorites! These are the products I have been reaching for the most the past few months. As a makeup artist and beauty blogger I have TONS of makeup, I try to rotate and use as many different products as possible but these have been my go to. I will link all products (just click on product name) in case you want to check them out!

1.   BH Studio Pro Powder

AMAZING POWDER! I use it alone and to set my foundation. DUPE for the MAC Studio Fix Powder. (AND MUCH CHEAPER CANT BEAT THAT!!!)

2.   Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser

THIS IS A MUST HAVE FOR ME! I have like 5 tubes just incase LOL! I wont wear a bit of makeup without applying this first.

3.   Nyx Matte Finish Setting Spray

Since it has gotten warmer I have been spraying my face with this and it keeps me from getting oily. Oily skinned girls this is for you!

4.   Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara

I have always hated mascara! It always irritates my eyes like crazy, BUT since I discovered this product I have been loving it! No irritated eyes and SUPER long lashes

5.   Lorac Pro Eyeshadow Palette (the first one)

FORGET URBAN DECAY NAKED PALETTES. This is the BOMB.COM! & I’m pretty sure its $10 cheaper than the naked palettes. The shadows are so creamy and easy to blend. I got this for my BFF for her birthday and she raved about it for months so I picked it up for myself and I have been in love ever since.

6.   Kiss #11 eyelashes – found at walmart can’t find a link online :(

I LOVE false lashes but sometime they are just toooo much. I discovered these and they are so natural looking every time I wear them I always get asked what mascara I use and not “are you wearing fake lashes?” you cant tell they are fake at ALL!

7.   Essence Eyeshadow Base

I was on the hunt for a cheap shadow base and I’ve found the perfect one! I just stocked up for prom season!

8.   NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

Pricey but oh so worth it!! It brightens my under eye area like no other and has never creased on me.

9.   Loreal True Match Lumi

10. Sephora 10 hour foundation

I put these two side by side because I have been mixing them together! Great foundations alone but together they are a dream! Every time I wear these two I get compliments.

11. NYX Highlight and Contour Palette

OMG! If I had to pick one favorite for out of this whole post this would be it! I have completely fallen in love with this palette. Most contour palettes don’t have the best range of shades but THIS one does. You can mix and get both the perfect highlight and contour shade. Its perfect for all skin tones!
