Hi friends! Long time no talk. It has been about 6 months since I last published a post to my blog. In fact, it was my birth story and oh how things have changed since then. I have received SO many questions that last few months from family, friends, and followers. I have rounded up the most asked questions and decided to do a little Q & A. I am sure this post will be a bit lengthy so lets hop right into it.
Have you stopped blogging?
I took a break from social media and blogging because it just wasn’t bring me joy and new mom life is HARD. I have not stopped blogging, in fact I am really trying to get into it more. With a baby and working it is SO hard to make time for everything. I am slowly learning to manage my time better and make time for the things I enjoy (i.e blogging).
Is your boutique still open?
No. At the moment Ivory James is not open. It was a hard decision to make but it was much needed. Between being a new mom, work, and running a boutique I was killing myself. I wasn’t getting any sleep due to trying to manage it all. I suffered from postpartum depression for a bit and had to re-evaluate some things. I LOVED owning a boutique but it takes A LOT of time and work. With a new baby to care for, I couldn’t give it the time and dedication needed for continuous success. I hope to take some time to build my blog and then re-open the boutique later down the road. I learned SO much about the boutique industry and can’t wait to dive back into that world later down the line.
What do you do for a living?
I work with a non-profit organization and I am a VA. I also make a very small income from blogging and instagram. I am so lucky to be able to work from home and take care of Brylee full time!!
How is the baby? Why don’t you post more pictures?
Brylee is SO good. She is the sweetest baby. We got so luck because she is such an “easy” baby. She sleeps through the night, travels well, and has the cutest personality.
I honestly just forget to post pictures of her. We have so much fun together and I really try to enjoy time with her and I forget to post. I will try to share more because I know so many of you all want to see pics.
Did you deal with postpartum? If so, do you have any advice?
To be honest, I am the last person you want any advice from about postpartum. I struggled so bad with postpartum. I’m still not 100% back to my normal self but I am doing much better. My biggest advice is to just TALK to someone about how you are feeling and seek professional help ASAP!
What is your favorite thing about being a mom? Also what is the most challenging?
My favorite thing about being a mom is watching her grow up and change from day to day. Being able to experience life with her is SO fun. Even though she won’t remember this part of life, I will and literally every minute with her is such a blessing. The most challenging part of motherhood is not having time for yourself. You literally dedicate every second to caring for an adorable tiny human. It is so worth it but can take a toll on you mentally.
Who are your favorite bloggers?
This is such a hard question because I love SO many. Off the top of my head my favorites would be Emily @emilyanngemma , Rachel @rachparcell , Katy @livingmybeststyle, and Jen @thesisterstudio!!
What are some goals you are working toward currently?
Gosh so many lol. Right now my main goals are to loose this dang baby weight and build my blog/brand!
I see you went to Hawaii! How was it? Do you have any other trips planned for this year?
Hawaii was AMAZING! I have no words for how beautiful it was. I am so grateful I got to go with my entire family. I do have a few more trips this year. I actually fly out to LA for a super quick trip Wednesday. I will be there sometime in October as well. We also JUST booked a trip to NYC for December for a short couples trip with my brother and sister in law! I LOVE to travel and try to take as many trips as I can.
Ok.. I think that answered the majority of the questions I received! Feel free to reach out if I didn’t answer your question.
I hope y’all had a great long weekend. Check back tomorrow for a try-on session and haul!! XO
